At Harmony House, we believe in pairing together great instruments with talented instructors, all under one roof. Thanks to our wide network, we bring in some of the most talented musicians and teachers from across the Valley.

Whether you are interested in learning to play the cello or the oboe, Harmony House can help match you to the right teacher. In this post, we share what makes some of our teachers so great.

Meet our talented teachers

Bruce Wurst

Teaches: Oboe, English Horn, Bassoon, Ukulele, Dulcimer, Steel Guitar, Cello, Banjo, Guitar, Bass, Upright Bass, Mandolin, Violin, Fiddle, Viola, and Dobro

Already playing piano and guitar by the age of three, Bruce is an accomplished musician and master of a diverse range of instruments, from the mandolin to the horn. Bruce’s accomplishments include a national banjo championship, being an eight-time Arizona guitar champion, and more than 250 cumulative career awards.

Jon Antonelli

Teaches: Drum Set & Percussion

A full-time professional player and teacher, Jon is a skilled drummer who has performed at a high level, including as part of Grant Man and the Island Beats, a reggae band that performed at the 2006 and 2007 Fiesta Bowls in Phoenix. Jon works to break down drumming to its rhythmic roots, making him a great teacher for aspiring drummers of all ages and skill levels.

Terry Smith

Teaches: Vocal

For more than 14 years, Terry has been inspiring students to sing confidently, and with the kind of range and endurance required for all varieties of vocal performance, from musical theatre to pop singing. If your voice is the only instrument you need, Terry can help you hone your skills and abilities.

Joy Elaine

Teaches: Piano, Flute, Clarinet

Joy has been playing music since she was young, and has sung or performed in a number of choirs. She has been teaching music to others since 1998, and has a degree in Music Ministry from Arizona Christian University. She has been teaching at Harmony House since 1995.

Adam Gonzales

Teaches: Guitar, Electric Bass

Adam is a talented musician who has worked with Harmony House for more than seven years. He studied music at Arizona State University and has previously worked with the Young Mozarts program, teaching students in 1st through 4th grade. Adam is a great teacher for both beginners and advanced players alike.

Armando Salas

Teaches: Woodwind Instruments

Armando is an alumni of the famous high school jazz group, the Young Sounds of Arizona. After completing his degree in Jazz Studies at the University of Arizona, Armando has worked at completing original works, creating film scores, and performing in groups such as the Jazz Munkeys and Riverside Cathedral.

Vickie Thai

Teaches: Violin

An experienced and accomplished violinist, Vicki has been teaching this instrument for more than 30 years. Currently, Vicki plays the violin for the Allegro String Quartet and the String Sounds. For those looking to either start playing the violin or further hone their skills, Vicki is an excellent teacher.
